Ok let's be honest, in Arizona summer is really not the most ideal time to take photos in general. But as this is the beautiful state that we live in, we are here today to convince you at least that EARLY summer is a better time for photos than late summer. We're in the business of creating magical moments here, and 120-degree heat is not exactly the best recipe for fairy dust and rainbows. However, all is certainly not lost when it comes to photoshoots in the summer, in fact, we are thoroughly convinced that the *early* summer is a GREAT time for photos, and here's why.
#1 It's cooler in May/June v. July/August
We all love our Arizona home here, but we can definitely find ourselves at our wit's end by the time August rolls around. And incidentally, this is time we begin to start thinking about fall photos, whether they be for a senior in high school or simply family photos! And don't we know it, nothing makes dads more irritable than a HOT family photoshoot! Not a fun time. That's one reason we would encourage clients to schedule family photos earlier in the summer so we avoid the blistering heat that loves to ruin our sweet family moments!
And what about hair, makeup, and wardrobe? May and June are historically drier months, so our hair and makeup tend to hold their freshness for the shoot better in these months than in later months when we are dripping with monsoon-humidity sweat! Nothing about that sounds appealing! We gotta have you looking and feeling your best for your photos, which is another reason why you should schedule your session earlier.
#2 You won't miss your yearbook deadline
So we've all agreed that shooting in late summer is not the ideal situation. But what to do when some high schools' yearbook deadlines for senior ads are in early September? There just isn't enough time to wait until the weather cools down to get senior portraits done if you're aiming to have a beautiful senior ad in your yearbook on time! So there's another reason to schedule especially senior photos in the early summer. Rising seniors can kick off the summer before their senior year with senior photos to get them excited about the upcoming year, and with plenty of time to have a beautiful senior ad designed and submitted to the yearbook committee! No sweat!
#3 Check off the family Christmas card photo early!
Now this one should be a no-brainer because we all know how crazy busy we get around the holiday season. The list of things to prepare (not to mention money to spend) seems endless, and we can't help but wonder every year, wouldn't it be nice if these things could be a little more spread out? You can't exactly cook the Thanksgiving turkey months in advance (unless someone knows something we don't... in which case, please share...), but you definitely CAN completely check Christmas cards off your list as early as May or June! Photos don't expire, and what better time to get those photos done than when the kids are out of school and there's more free time all around! All of our clients who do their photos early thank themselves later, and we can't help but agree with them that it's a smart move.
We want to remind you all that you still have until MAY 15TH, 2020 to get 15% off gift certificates that will NEVER EXPIRE! This will be your last chance so don't miss it! These can be given away or you can save it for a future session for you and your family. Click the link below to take advantage of this offer and save yourself 15% off!
